Weekend Trip to Red Rocks in Denver!
Day 1 | Travel to Denver
There is nothing more exciting than traveling to see your favorite artist! Riley Green is a huge part of my playlist and on constant rotation in my car! When I heard that he was playing at Red Rocks, I saw it as a way to cross two bucket list items off my list at once. Red Rocks has always been a place I’ve wanted to visit and Colorado is one of my favorite places to spend weekends during the summer.
Our first day we flew into Denver and checked into The Origin hotel, the preferred hotel partner of Red Rocks. That night we went line dancing at The Grizzly Rose. This place is huge, one of the largest honky tonks in the world, and has live music 6 nights a week! The dance floor was so packed, it was absolutely insane!
Day 2 | Concert
There’s something unmatched about the anticipation that builds throughout the day before a concert! We spent the day exploring downtown Denver, doing some shopping on 16th Street Mall & Laramie Square and enjoying a delicious lunch at Earl’s. Definitely recommend the steak frites, was absolutely delicious! Then it was time to get ready to see RILEY GREEN!!
It was so amazing to see how the sunset bounce all over the red rock in the canyon. Though it was a rainy day and poured on us through the whole show, we still had an incredible time! It was one of those experiences that you’ll never forget. Riley put on an outstanding show and the music was fantastic! Hannah McFarland opened and had a duet with Riley. She is absolutely stunning and will definitely be added to the playlist! Definitely a must-see duo! Though Ella Langley was supposed to be at this show, she wasn’t able to make it which was so disappointing. So will 100% have to book another show!
Once the encore ended, we started the downhill trek to the rideshare lot. This was like being on a huge semi-tipsy group hike & was literally move than a 2 mile walk. The lines for the shuttles were way too long and they only take you down to the lot for rideshare pickup. Plus waiting on the Uber took even longer. Definitely pack a pair of walking shoes! Or even hiking boots!
Tips
MAKE SURE those cute cowgirl boots are comfortable because you will be WALKING! Red Rocks is literally built on a mountain and while your Uber might be allowed to drop you off at the top entrance the pick up spot is not in the same place. To manage the flow of traffic, everyone is directed to walk down the never-ending steps and exit out on the road. Then you can catch the shuttle down to the parking lot and ride-share spot.
Once the gates open, hurry to grab a spot if you have a GA ticket it’s first come first serve.
Pack rain gear, midwest weather can be unpredictable.
