Spend the Day with Me in Washington D.C.

Ever thought of doing day trips to cities you have always wanted to visit? Quick out and back trips are some of my favorite, most memorable trips! The time you have is so short but that makes every moment memorable! With that in mind, here’s how I spent 24 hours in Washington, D.C.

Travel Arrangements

Took the first flight early in the morning, like really early! Get yourself to a place where you enjoy 5am at the airport because it makes all the difference. Once you land in DC, catch the train into the city center.

You’ll be on the last flight out that night so no need to book a hotel stay!

What to Do & Where to Eat

First time in D.C must be all about the museums and national monuments! There’s so much more to DC but when you only have one day stick close to the National Mall and explore all the history of our country!

We explored the Smithsonian, walked about the city center to see the White House, walked through the National Mall and had time for two museums! Here’s how we did it!

It’s real easy to get around on the Metro so once we landed in the city center, we walked over to see the White House, the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Right away when they opened at 10am we went into the National Museum of Natural History, before it got too crowded. This was undoubtedly an impressive museum full of exhibits

Afterwards, we visited the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum! Truly an incredible experience to see the evolution of air travel from the Wright Brother’s original plane to Buzz walking on the moon.

Next we walked by the Capitol Building on the way to lunch at the City Tap. After all that walking, burgers definitely hit the spot! Had a fantastic time visiting our country’s capitol!
