The Complete Guide To Exploring the Rocky Mountains!

Mile High City! The Springs! Berk!

You can NOT go wrong with a trip to one of the most beautiful mountainous states! No matter how long you have or what season it is, there is so much to do! Especially for adventure loving thrill seekers! Trying a little bit of everything will always be my suggestion! But more than one flight will have to be booked to check everything off this bucket list…

Fortunately there’s something for everyone! Colorado is known for being a diverse landscape of alpine mountains, high plains, sandy deserts, & deep canyons. Whether your interested in winter sports high up on the slopes, challenging 14ers, relaxing hot springs or camping, hunting, fishing & hiking! The list goes on!

This weekend was my second trip out to CO and I’m already planning my next! The views are always spectacular!! My first venture was to Denver for a family wedding and this year I had the opportunity to visit a friend in Colorado Springs. Each time the gorgeous scenery allowed us to be incredibly active! The experiences were unlike anything else & this is definitely one of my favorite places, mostly because it allows me to challenge myself and step outside my comfort zones & normal activities.

One unique activity we tried in Denver was horseback-riding at Chatfield Stables. Riding across Chatfield State Park in the foothills of the rockies was an unforgettable experience.

On the day of my cousin’s wedding we took a morning ride! Short trips call for tight schedules and we were not letting this opportunity pass. Later that day Rich & Mel tied the knot on the grounds of Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Co.

This year, to celebrate new jobs for myself and my bestie, I took off for Colorado Springs! A large city nestled at the base of Pikes Peak that is her new home! There was more to do than I could imagine! The first day we explored Cheyenne Mountain with her rambunctious puppies! Then had a fabulous dinner at Viewhouse, perfectly named for its view of the Rockies from their balcony. The food was delicious and the social scene was the perfect mix of club meets fancy restaurant. The next morning we visited the quaint coffee shop Black Bear Coffee. Saturday was spent on the 7 Bridges Trail! My personal favorite! Sunday we walked the Red Canyon path discovering hidden gems! Each of these trails offered picturesque views and the perfect opportunities for nature photography and western themed photoshoots.

Pro tips: 1) Hiking backpacks are a lifesaver. Being prepared creates your dream hike! 2) Altitude sickness is worse than a hangover. 3) Drinking at higher altitudes is…cheaper. So consume more responsibly than you normally would. 4) Covid restrictions exist in nature too, double check where you need reservations to hike. 5) Hiking style is all about durability! Make sure your gear can stand up to all elements you could encounter.
